Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
The Commander
When you cast this spell, exile two target permanents.
Indestructible
Whenever Ulamog attacks, defending player exiles the top twenty cards of their library.
Guide
Gameplan
Ramp aggressively into 10+ mana, slam Ulamog to exile two of the worst permanents on board (lands, problem permanents, planeswalkers), then attack to mill opponents out 20 cards at a time. The deck is a colorless Eldrazi ramp shell that grinds the game through massive mana acceleration and beats face with indestructible threats.
Strengths
- The cast trigger is a guaranteed two-for-one removal that doesn't target you and ignores hexproof/indestructible since it exiles
- Indestructible body survives most board wipes and combat
- Colorless identity gives access to powerful artifact ramp and Eldrazi titans that any deck can play
- Attack trigger can deck out an opponent in two or three swings as a real win condition
Weaknesses
- No access to interaction beyond colorless options — counterspells and instant-speed removal are scarce
- Extremely high mana value makes it vulnerable to ramp disruption and Stax effects
- Exile-based removal (Swords, Path) and bounce shut Ulamog down cold
- Slow to come online; can struggle against fast combo before you reach 10 mana
Key Cards
- Eye of Ugin — Drops Eldrazi spell costs by 2 colorless, making Ulamog and friends dramatically cheaper.
- Sanctum of Ugin — Tutors another Eldrazi titan onto the battlefield after casting a big spell, chaining threats.
- Ancient Tomb — Doubles your mana output early, a key accelerant in a colorless ramp shell.
- Eldrazi Temple — Adds two colorless for Eldrazi, accelerating toward your 10-drop.
- Kozilek, Butcher of Truth — Refills your hand on cast and gives a second indestructible/annihilator-style finisher.
- Endless Atlas — Pure colorless card advantage to keep the gas flowing in a colorless deck.
Upgrade Path
Lean into ramp density with cards like Mana Vault, Grim Monolith, Mishra's Workshop, and Thran Dynamo to consistently hit 10 mana by turn 5-6. Add the other titans (Emrakul, Kozilek) plus reanimation-adjacent cheats like Spawnsire of Ulamog or Eldrazi Aggressor effects, and protect your engine with All Is Dust and Karn, the Great Creator to lock out artifact-reliant tables.

Win Conditions
Archetypes
- Big Mana Ramp — Ulamog rewards stacking mana rocks and Eldrazi lands to cheat out the largest threats in the format.
- Mill/Self-Exile Combat — The attack trigger turns combat damage into a 20-card-per-swing decking strategy.
- Colorless Stax — Indestructibility and high-impact permanents pair well with taxing pieces like Winter Orb and Static Orb that you can play around.
