What it does

Dash lets you cast a creature for its alternate dash cost, giving it haste so it can attack immediately. At the beginning of the next end step, you return that creature to your hand—so it doesn't stick around on the battlefield unless you recast it normally. The most common misunderstanding is timing: the creature only returns if it's still on the battlefield at the next end step, and it returns to your hand even if an opponent gained control of it. People also forget dashed creatures still trigger enter-the-battlefield and leave-the-battlefield effects, making them great for "blink"-style value or sneaking in a hasty attacker without exposing it to sorcery-speed removal on your opponents' turns. In Commander, dash shines for surprise damage, protecting fragile creatures, and repeatedly abusing ETB triggers each turn.
