What it does
Flashback lets you cast a spell from your graveyard by paying its flashback cost instead of its normal mana cost. After it resolves (or otherwise leaves the stack), you exile the card rather than putting it back into your graveyard. It only works for instants and sorceries that have the keyword printed on them.
The most common mistake: flashback is an alternative cost, not an extra one, and you still apply additional costs and timing restrictions normally—you can only flashback a sorcery during your main phase with an empty stack. Also, the card goes to exile no matter how it leaves the stack (countered, fizzled, or resolved), so you can't reuse it without something that recurs cards from exile.
In Commander, flashback effectively doubles a spell's value, which is great in graveyard-focused decks. Watch for "cast from graveyard" synergies and effects that let you flashback cards that don't normally have it, like Snapcaster Mage.
