Mountainwalk

What it does

Mountainwalk means that if the defending player controls at least one Mountain, this creature can't be blocked by them. It's a form of evasion that only works against opponents running red mana sources—or, importantly, any land with the Mountain subtype, including dual lands like Sacred Foundry or Steam Vents. The common misconception is that mountainwalk has anything to do with the creature being red or attacking a specific color. It only checks land subtypes, not colors. So a player splashing red via shocklands or fetchable duals is just as vulnerable as a mono-red deck. Note it grants unblockable status, not "can't be targeted" or any other protection. In Commander's multiplayer environment, landwalk is unreliable since you choose one player to attack each combat. It shines best with effects that give all opponents' lands a subtype (like Spreading Seas variants) or in red-heavy metagames.
