What it does
Threshold is an ability that turns on once you have seven or more cards in your graveyard. While that condition is met, cards with threshold gain a bonus effect—bigger stats, extra abilities, or improved spells. Once your graveyard drops below seven, the bonus simply switches off.
The most common mistake is treating threshold as a permanent upgrade. It's a continuous check, not a one-time trigger, so it can flip on and off as your graveyard size changes. Milling, fetching, or exiling cards from your graveyard can deactivate it mid-game.
In Commander, threshold rewards graveyard-heavy strategies but is slower to enable in a 100-card singleton format. Self-mill, cantrips, and fetch effects help you cross seven fast. Watch out for graveyard hate, which can both disrupt your plan and shut threshold off.
