Tinybones, Trinket Thief
The Commander
At the beginning of each end step, if an opponent discarded a card this turn, you draw a card and you lose 1 life.
: Each opponent with no cards in hand loses 10 life.
Guide
Gameplan
Tinybones is a mono-black discard deck that strips every opponent's hand with mass discard, refills your own hand off Tinybones' draw trigger, and then closes the game by activating its ability for 10 damage per empty-handed opponent. You spend the early game on rocks and discard pieces, then dump opponents to zero cards and detonate.
Strengths
- Repeatable card advantage that punishes opponents for discarding while staying ahead of life loss
- A built-in, hand-attached win condition that can kill multiple players at once
- Mono-black gives access to the best tutors, ramp, and recursion for consistency
- Discard doubles as soft Stax, denying combo and answer pieces
Weaknesses
- The
ability is reset by anyone drawing or being given cards, and players empty their hands naturally late
- Relies heavily on the commander; repeated removal shuts the deck off
- No way to interact with the battlefield once permanents resolve—weak to go-wide and big creatures
- Symmetrical/group discard like Megrim effects can be slow, and you bleed life from your own trigger
Key Cards
- Liliana's Caress — Turns every opponent discard into direct damage, stacking with Tinybones to race the table.
- Bottomless Pit — Forces a discard every turn, reliably keeping hands empty and feeding the draw trigger.
- Megrim — Another Caress-style payoff that converts mass discard into a fast clock.
- Mind Twist — Empties a single opponent's hand in one shot, setting up the 10-life activation.
- Bloodchief Ascension — With empty hands and discard triggers, it quickly ramps life loss into a kill.
- Necropotence — Refuels your own hand so you can keep deploying threats without running dry.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Dark Ritual, Jet Medallion, Mana Vault) and tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor) to find your discard payoffs faster, and run Waste Not plus a wheel like Windfall or Wheel of Misfortune to convert mass discard into card advantage and damage. Include protection such as Lightning Greaves and recursion like Phyrexian Reclamation so the table can't simply remove Tinybones to disarm your win con.

- Combo — Tinybones plus a wheel or mass-discard piece can deal 30 in a turn to empty-handed tables.
- Control — Mono-black removal and discard let you grind the game while Tinybones draws you ahead.
