What it does

Mountaincycling is a specialized form of cycling. By paying its mountaincycling cost and discarding the card from your hand, you can search your library for a Mountain card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle. Note it finds any card with the Mountain land type—not just cards named "Mountain," so dual lands like Sacred Foundry or Cinder Glade qualify. The most common mistake: people assume it grabs a basic land, but it pulls the card to your hand, not the battlefield, and it can fetch any Mountain-type land. It's still an activated ability that uses the stack, so opponents can respond before you draw the land—but they can't stop the search once it resolves. In Commander, it adds flexibility to high-cost cards, smoothing mana while giving you a useful card late when you don't need the land. It triggers cycling synergies (like Astral Slide or Fluctuator discounts) too.
