Cabal Coffers is the engine that turns mono-black (and black-heavy) decks into ramp powerhouses. The math is simple: pay 2 to untap a flood of black mana, and once you control 5+ Swamps you're netting profit every activation. By the midgame it's often producing 8-12 mana in a single tap, fueling X-spells, expensive bombs, and reanimation chains.
It pairs beautifully with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, which makes all your lands Swamps—including nonbasics and even opponents' lands. That two-card combo is a staple in K'rrik, Liliana, Sheoldred, and any big-mana black deck. Land doublers like Thespian's Stage copies and Deserted Temple untaps push it further into broken territory.
Run it in mono-black or decks with a high Swamp count. Skip it in multicolor decks light on actual Swamps—if you only run 6-7 basics, it's a slow, mediocre rock that does little before turn 6. It also does nothing the turn it enters, so it's a payoff, not early ramp.
