Why is this card good?

Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth is one of the best utility lands in the format, and it's deceptively powerful. The obvious upside: in black-heavy decks, it fixes your mana by making every land tap for black. Played alongside Cabal Coffers, it turns your entire land base into a Swamp-counting mana engine — that combo is a cornerstone of mono-black and black-centric ramp decks. It also enables swampwalk, supports devotion, and lets nonbasics pinch-hit for black sources. It's broadly useful in any deck running black, even multicolor ones, since it smooths out color screw on splashy turns. The downside is symmetric: opponents' lands also become Swamps, which can accidentally turn on their swampwalkers or fix their mana. Don't play it in decks without black, where it does nothing for you but still helps opponents. Also be wary in pods with black-hosing effects or pingers that punish Swamps. Otherwise, if you're playing black, this is a near-automatic include — cheap, low-opportunity-cost fixing.

If an effect such as that of Magus of the Moon causes Urborg to lose its abilities by setting it to a basic land type not in addition to its other types, it won't turn lands into Swamps, no matter in what order those effects started to apply.
