Why is this card good?
Watery Grave is a premium dual land and an auto-include in essentially every Dimir (UB) deck. Being both an Island and a Swamp matters enormously: it fetches with Polluted Delta, Misty Rainforest, and any other land-type fetchland, and it benefits from cards like Urborg or anything that cares about basic land types.
The shockland flexibility is the real selling point. Early game, you pay 2 life to keep it untapped and curve out smoothly; late game, when life total matters more than tempo, you just let it enter tapped for free. That control over your own mana is exactly what you want in a 100-card singleton format where consistency is king.
It wants any UB deck — control, reanimator, mill, aristocrats partially in these colors — and pairs beautifully with fetchlands to enable Brainstorm-style shuffles or to thin slightly.
When NOT to play it: only in non-UB decks, or ultra-budget builds where a tapland or basic suffices. Otherwise, run it.
