Akroma, Angel of Wrath
The Commander
Flying, first strike, vigilance, trample, haste, protection from black and from red
Guide
Gameplan
Cast Akroma as an evasive, hyper-keyworded beatstick and ride her to a fast voltron kill. Ramp into her eight mana early, protect her with white's deep stack of equipment, auras, and protection spells, then connect for big chunks of commander damage. Win before opponents stabilize by recurring her cheaply after each removal spell.
Strengths
- Massive built-in keyword soup (flying, first strike, vigilance, trample, haste, protection from black and red) makes her a complete threat with zero setup
- Haste means she attacks the turn she lands, closing games fast
- Protection from black and red dodges much of the format's premium spot removal and blocks key colors of attackers/blockers
- Mono-white gives access to excellent recursion, taxes, and protection effects
Weaknesses
- Eight mana is a steep, real cost that demands heavy ramp in a color that ramps poorly
- Vulnerable to white/blue/green removal, board wipes, edicts, and exile effects she has no protection from
- Classic glass-cannon voltron: lose her repeatedly and the deck stalls
- Color-screw and lack of card advantage are perennial mono-white problems
Key Cards
- Sword of Feast and Famine — Untaps your lands on combat damage for free recasts and protection that stacks with hers.
- Swiftfoot Boots — Hexproof shields her from the targeted removal her protection doesn't cover.
- Mother of Runes — Repeatable protection makes her nearly unblockable and removal-proof in combat.
- Smothering Tithe — The premier mono-white ramp/card-advantage engine to actually reach eight mana.
- Land Tax — Smooths your draws and fixes the mana you need to deploy and protect her.
- Eldrazi Monument — Grants indestructibility and flying to your whole board while pushing commander damage.
Upgrade Path
Lean into the fastest mana the color allows—Smothering Tithe, Land Tax, Knight of the White Orchid, Sol Ring, and mana rocks—so Akroma lands by turn four or five. Add redundant protection (Mother of Runes, Giver of Runes, Swiftfoot Boots, Teferi's Protection) and double-strike enablers (Sword of Vengeance, Fireshrieker) to threaten one-shot kills. Finally, include cheap recursion like Brought Back and Emeria Shepherd to grind through repeated removal.

Win Conditions
- ▸Commander damage: 21 (or less with doublers) from an equipped, evasive Akroma
- ▸Doubling effects like Fireshrieker/Grafted Wargear or Embercleave-style power swings for one-shot kills
- ▸Going wide with white tokens plus an anthem if voltron is answered
Archetypes
- Voltron — Her stacked keywords plus protection make her the ideal target for equipment and auras to swing for lethal commander damage.
- Stax/Taxes — Mono-white hatebears and tax pieces slow opponents while you assemble a single big threat.
- Aggro — Haste and evasion let you race and pressure the table from the first cast.
