God-Eternal Kefnet
The Commander
Flying
You may reveal the first card you draw each turn as you draw it. Whenever you reveal an instant or sorcery card this way, copy that card and you may cast the copy. That copy costs less to cast.
When God-Eternal Kefnet dies or is put into exile from the battlefield, you may put it into its owner's library third from the top.
Guide
Gameplan
Cast God-Eternal Kefnet early and weaponize your draw step: reveal the first card each turn, and whenever it's an instant or sorcery, copy it and cast the copy for less. Build a mono-blue control/spellslinger shell that draws extra cards, manipulates the top of your library, and chains powerful spells while Kefnet beats down for 4 in the air.
Strengths
- Generates free copies of your best instants and sorceries, doubling card advantage and tempo every turn
- Built-in protection: dies or gets exiled and returns third from the top instead of going to the command zone, dodging commander tax
- Mono-blue gives access to the deepest counterspell, card draw, and top-deck manipulation suites in the format
- 4-mana evasive 4/5 body that closes games quickly with cost reduction enabling explosive turns
Weaknesses
- Relies on the first card drawn being an instant or sorcery, so unfiltered decks waste the trigger on lands and creatures
- Mono-blue struggles with hard removal for resolved threats and enchantments
- Slow to close on its own; can durdle without a defined win condition
- Top-of-library manipulation requires building around it, adding deckbuilding tension
Key Cards
- Sensei's Divining Top — Lets you set up the first draw each turn to guarantee an instant or sorcery on top for a free copy.
- Brainstorm — Cheap cantrip that, when revealed off the top, copies for
less—effectively free—and stacks your library.
- Mystic Confluence — A flexible modal instant that, when copied, generates a backbreaking swing in card advantage and tempo.
- Scroll Rack — Stacks instants and sorceries on top to feed Kefnet's reveal trigger reliably.
- Reliquary Tower — No maximum hand size keeps all the extra cards Kefnet generates without discarding.
- Mind's Desire — A storm payoff whose copy can snowball into a massive cascade of free spells.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, Mana Vault) and efficient cantrips to deploy Kefnet early and chain spells. Invest heavily in top-of-library control—Sensei's Divining Top, Scroll Rack, Mystical Tutor—to make the reveal trigger consistent, and include extra-turn spells like Time Warp and Temporal Manipulation that become devastating when copied. Tighten the win condition with a compact combo (e.g., extra turns plus a finisher) so the engine actually closes games.

- ▸Grinding the table out of cards with copied draw and counterspells, then closing with any threat

- Control — Mono-blue counters, bounce, and card draw let Kefnet grind out the table while protecting itself.
- Combo — Cost reduction plus extra-turn and tutor spells off the top enable explosive combo turns.
- Topdeck/Library Manipulation — Scry, top manipulation, and Kefnet's reveal create a self-reinforcing engine of free copies.
