Linden, the Steadfast Queen
The Commander
Guide
Gameplan
Linden is a mono-white go-wide aggro/lifegain commander: flood the board with white tokens, attack every turn while Linden grants you a trickle of life per attacker, then convert that life total and board presence into a payoff. You build a wide army, swing in with vigilance to keep defenses up, and bleverage lifegain triggers to fuel cards like Aetherflux Reservoir or Felidar Sovereign.
Strengths
- Generates incremental lifegain that scales with how wide you go
- Vigilance lets you attack and still defend, ideal for aggressive token boards
- Mono-white means consistent mana and access to powerful white token/anthem support
- Cheap 3-mana commander that gets to work immediately
Weaknesses
- Lifegain triggers are small and do little on their own without a payoff
- Highly vulnerable to board wipes given the go-wide plan
- Mono-white lacks card advantage and ramp compared to other colors
- Linden offers no evasion or protection, so the board can stall
Key Cards
- Aetherflux Reservoir — Turns Linden's repeated lifegain into a 50-life storm kill or a steady removal engine.
- Felidar Sovereign — A built-in win condition that triggers off the high life totals Linden generates.
- Anointed Procession — Doubles your token output so you flood the board faster and gain more life per attack.
- Smothering Tithe — Premier mono-white ramp and treasure engine to power out your token producers.
- Heliod, Sun-Crowned — Amplifies lifegain and can turn each gain trigger into incremental advantage or combo enabler.
- Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite — Anthems your team while crippling opposing blockers, closing games with a wide board.
Upgrade Path
Add efficient token doublers (Anointed Procession, Mondrak), strong ramp (Smothering Tithe, Land Tax, mana rocks), and a couple of dedicated payoffs like Aetherflux Reservoir or Felidar Sovereign rather than relying on combat alone. Prioritize board-wipe insurance such as Heroic Intervention's white analogs (Flawless Maneuver, Teferi's Protection) and recursion to rebuild after sweepers. Tighten the curve and add card-draw engines (Welcoming Vampire, Mentor of the Meek, Esper Sentinel) to fight mono-white's card-advantage gap.

- ▸Felidar Sovereign or Approach of the Second Sun off inflated life totals

Archetypes
- Tokens — Linden rewards filling the board with white creatures that all trigger lifegain on attack.
- Lifegain — Every white attacker pads your life total, enabling lifegain payoffs.
- Aggro/Go-Wide — Vigilance and incidental life make swinging every turn low-risk.
- Combo — High life totals enable Aetherflux Reservoir and Felidar Sovereign wins.
