Ojer Pakpatiq, Deepest Epoch // Temple of Cyclical Time
The Commander
Flying
Whenever you cast an instant spell from your hand, it gains rebound. (Exile it as it resolves. At the beginning of your next upkeep, you may cast it from exile without paying its mana cost.)
When Ojer Pakpatiq dies, return it to the battlefield tapped and transformed under its owner's control with three time counters on it.
(Transforms from Ojer Pakpatiq, Deepest Epoch.)

Guide
Gameplan
Ojer Pakpatiq turns your instants into two-for-ones by granting rebound to every instant cast from hand, letting you bury opponents in card advantage, counters, and removal over two turns. You play a tempo-control game—answering threats while accruing value—then close with a big spellslinger or burn-via-damage payoff, or with infinite-turn loops. Its built-in recursion (dying flips it to a land that returns) makes it a resilient, hard-to-stick-down commander.
Strengths
- Doubles the value of every instant from hand, generating massive card and tempo advantage
- Hard to permanently remove—dies into a land that recurs, dodging exile-light removal
- Mono-blue gives access to the deepest pool of counterspells, card draw, and interaction
- A 4/4 flier is a real clock and pressures opponents on its own
- Enables extra-turn loops and instant-speed combos that rebound for free
Weaknesses
- Mono-color means no access to fast mana ramp, tutors, or removal outside blue
- Relies on instants in hand—rebound doesn't trigger from graveyard, exile, or copies
- Vulnerable to graveyard/exile-based removal and to fliers/reach blockers
- Card-advantage engine is slow; can lose to fast aggro or combo before stabilizing
- Doesn't generate a board, so it can struggle to close games without a dedicated payoff
Key Cards
- Time Warp — Rebound gives you the extra turn now and a free one next upkeep, snowballing toward infinite turns.
- Part the Waterveil — An instant-able extra-turn spell that rebounds into a second turn for free.
- Aetherflux Reservoir — Rebounding cheap instants triggers life gain twice per cast and pays off as a one-card kill.
- Archaeomancer — Recurs your best rebounded instants from the graveyard to chain value indefinitely.
- Murktide Regent — Mono-blue beater that grows huge as your rebounded instants exile from your graveyard.
- Snap — Free-to-cast instant that bounces and rebounds, untapping lands and chaining with Aetherflux.
Upgrade Path
Tighten the instant package toward high-impact, low-cost spells (counters, cantrips, bounce) so rebound always has fuel, and add fast mana like Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, and Mana Vault to power early control. Lean into a focused combo finish—Aetherflux Reservoir with Snap/Frantic Search loops, or extra-turn chains backed by Mystic Sanctuary and Archaeomancer recursion. Round out with the best blue tutors (Mystical Tutor, Personal Tutor) and protection (Veil of Summer, Pact of Negation) to assemble and defend the kill.
