Rienne, Angel of Rebirth
The Commander
Flying
Other multicolored creatures you control get +1/+0.
Whenever another multicolored creature you control dies, return it to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step.
Guide
Gameplan
Rienne, Angel of Rebirth is a Naya value engine that flings out aggressive multicolored creatures, recurring them from death to your hand for nonstop pressure. You ramp into a board of gold creatures, attack with the team buffed by Rienne's anthem, and grind out opponents through superior card advantage and resilience. Win by going wide/tall with multicolored beaters or by abusing repeatable ETB effects from recursive bodies.
Strengths
- Built-in recursion makes your multicolored creatures extremely hard to kill via removal or chump-blocking trades
- Free +1/+0 anthem turns a gold-creature board into a fast clock
- Color identity gives access to elite Naya ramp, removal, and tutors
- Synergizes with ETB and death triggers since creatures keep coming back to hand
Weaknesses
- Recursion only works while Rienne is on the battlefield, so she's a removal magnet
- Bounce-to-hand still costs you mana to recast, which can be tempo-negative
- Heavily reliant on multicolored creatures, narrowing deckbuilding
- Vulnerable to exile-based removal and board wipes that exile
- No inherent ramp or card draw from the command zone beyond recursion
Key Cards
- Knight of the Reliquary — A premier multicolored creature that fetches lands and grows, returning to hand to be redeployed.
- Mayael the Anima — Cheats huge multicolored creatures into play repeatedly with Rienne protecting your investments.
- Reyhan, Last of the Abzan — Banks counters from dying gold creatures, turning Rienne's death recursion into permanent growth.
- Aragorn, the Uniter — A multicolored powerhouse whose ETB triggers can be reused thanks to Rienne's bounce.
- Wort, the Raidmother — Generates tokens and copies spells, and as a gold creature benefits from the anthem and recursion.
- Eladamri's Call — Tutors any creature, letting you find Rienne or a key multicolored threat on demand.
Upgrade Path
Lean harder into mana acceleration (Birds of Paradise, Cultivate, Sakura-Tribe Elder) so you can recast bounced creatures without losing tempo. Add powerful multicolored ETB engines and free sacrifice outlets to convert the recursion into a value loop, plus protection like Heroic Intervention and Teferi's Protection to shield Rienne. Top-end tutors and a couple of clean combos (e.g., creatures with abusable ETBs and reanimation) push the deck from midrange grind into a faster, more reliable kill.

Win Conditions
- ▸Swing wide with an anthem-buffed army of multicolored creatures
- ▸Repeated ETB or death triggers grinding opponents out of resources
- ▸Voltron-style beats from a single large gold threat with evasion
- ▸Combo finishes using recursive ETB creatures like persistent loops
Archetypes
- Gold Aggro/Midrange — The anthem and recursion let you flood the board with cheap multicolored beaters that won't stay dead.
- ETB Value/Blink-adjacent — Dying creatures returning to hand lets you re-trigger powerful enter-the-battlefield abilities each turn.
- Tokens/Go-Wide — Many gold token-makers benefit from +1/+0 and recursion to overwhelm with bodies.
- Reanimator — Cheating big multicolored creatures into play pairs with Rienne keeping them safe from removal.
