The Commander

Flying

Enchantment creatures you control have deathtouch, lifelink, and hexproof.

{1}{W}: Target non-Aura enchantment you control becomes a creature in addition to its other types and has base power and base toughness each equal to its mana value.

Guide

Gameplan

Flood the board with enchantments, then use Zur's activated ability to animate them into hexproof, deathtouch, lifelink creatures and swing for the win. You ramp into a value engine of enchantments, protect Zur, and convert static permanents into an evasive, resilient army that gains you life while it beats face. Pillowfort and enchantment-based card advantage keep you alive until the board turns lethal.

Strengths

  • Animated enchantments gain hexproof, deathtouch, and lifelink, making them nearly impossible to remove profitably and great at both racing and blocking
  • Turns durdly value enchantments (Gods, Sagas, big enchantments) into evasive threats with sizable bodies equal to mana value
  • Deep, redundant enchantment-matters package in Esper colors with strong card advantage and recursion
  • Lifelink swings stabilize you against aggro while you assemble the win

Weaknesses

  • Board wipes that hit creatures still kill animated enchantments since hexproof doesn't stop sweepers
  • Without Zur on the field the deck can stall as a pile of non-threatening enchantments
  • Three colors and an enchantment-heavy curve can be slow and clunky to develop
  • Vulnerable to enchantment removal and graveyard hate against recursion
  • Mana-intensive: animating multiple enchantments each turn taxes your resources

Key Cards

  • Starfield of NyxMakes all your enchantments creatures and recurs them from the graveyard, supercharging the animation plan.
  • Sphinx's RevelationWith lifelink animators and Zur's life gain, big card-draw-and-life spells keep you ahead.
  • Sram, Senior EdificerCheap enchantment and Aura cast triggers refill your hand to fuel the board.
  • Smothering TithePremium enchantment ramp that snowballs mana for repeated Zur activations.
  • Doomwake GiantEnchantment-triggered mass -1/-1 acts as a one-sided sweeper alongside your hexproof board.
  • Heliod, Sun-CrownedA God enchantment that pumps lifelink and combos with lifegain, becoming a huge animated creature.
  • Sigil of the Empty ThroneGenerates angel tokens off enchantment casts, adding evasive bodies independent of Zur.
  • Greater AuramancyShroud and protection for your enchantments shores up Zur's hexproof grant against targeted removal.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the curve with cheap, high-impact enchantments and more ramp (Smothering Tithe, mana rocks, Carpet of Flowers) so you can animate and protect Zur on curve. Add resilience and protection like Greater Auramancy, Privileged Position, and Teferi's Protection to beat sweepers and targeted removal. Consider compact combos such as Heliod plus a lifegain engine, or Solemnity-style lock pieces, to provide a deterministic finish beyond combat.
