Command Beacon

Land

LegalEDHREC #182

{T}: Add {C}.

{T}, Sacrifice this land: Put your commander into your hand from the command zone.

Why is this card good?

Command Beacon is a deceptively powerful piece of fixing for any deck running an expensive or heavily-targeted commander. The key value: it lets you recast your commander from hand, completely sidestepping the commander tax. If your commander has died three times and now costs +6, this resets you to base cost — a massive mana savings that can swing a game. It shines with high-cost commanders (Zacama, Emrakol-tier bombs) and commanders that get removed repeatedly. It's also great for "cast trigger" commanders where you want to deploy them on a precise turn rather than fighting through escalating tax. Decks like voltron and any build that's commander-dependent love the insurance. The downside is it's a colorless land that enters for just one fix-it use, then dies. In multicolor decks it strains your mana base, and it does nothing until you actually need to rescue your commander. Skip it if your commander is cheap, replaceable, or you rarely recast it — the slot is better spent on color-fixing.
