Alphinaud Leveilleur
The Commander
Partner with Alisaie Leveilleur (When this creature enters, target player may put Alisaie Leveilleur into their hand from their library, then shuffle.)
Eukrasia — Whenever you cast your second spell each turn, draw a card.
Guide
Gameplan
Alphinaud is a mono-blue card-advantage engine that rewards casting two spells a turn by drawing you a card off your second cast. You durdle behind cheap interaction and cantrips to bury opponents in card advantage, then convert that surplus into a control finish or a big-mana payoff. With Partner, you can run him alongside Alisaie Leveilleur to widen your engine and color options.
Strengths
- Repeatable card advantage that's hard to interact with—the trigger is on casting, not resolution
- Vigilance lets him attack or block while staying available, and he's only 4 mana
- Naturally synergizes with cheap spells, cantrips, and storm-style chaining
- Partner gives flexibility to splash a second commander and deepen the engine
Weaknesses
- Mono-blue means no real removal for resolved permanents or recursion outside of bounce
- The Eukrasia trigger only fires once per turn—diminishing returns without spell volume
- Heavily reliant on the commander staying in play to generate advantage
- Can durdle and fall behind aggressive boards if it doesn't assemble its engine fast
Key Cards
- Mystic Remora — Cheap repeatable card advantage that pairs with Alphinaud's grindy gameplan to overwhelm opponents.
- Brainstorm — A one-mana cantrip that easily triggers Eukrasia as your second spell while smoothing draws.
- Snapcaster Mage — Flashes back a cheap spell to enable a second cast and trigger card draw at instant speed.
- Murktide Regent — A massive blue threat that closes games once your spell-heavy deck has filled the graveyard.
- Aetherflux Reservoir — Rewards casting many spells per turn and turns your engine into a one-shot kill.
- Cyclonic Rift — Mono-blue's premier board reset that lets the control shell stabilize and pull ahead.
Upgrade Path
Lean harder into the cheapest possible cantrips (Opt, Consider, Ponder) so you reliably hit a second cast, and add fast mana like Mana Crypt and Mana Vault to chain multiple spells per turn. Add free counterspells (Force of Will, Fierce Guardianship) to protect the engine, then pick a dedicated combo finish such as Aetherflux Reservoir or a Thassa's Oracle line to close before opponents stabilize.

Archetypes
- Spellslinger — Cheap instants and sorceries trigger Eukrasia repeatedly while building toward a magecraft or storm payoff.
- Control — Vigilance plus card advantage supports counterspells, bounce, and grinding opponents out of resources.
- Combo — Card draw and spell density fuel storm enablers like Aetherflux Reservoir or infinite mana loops.
