Brimaz, King of Oreskos
The Commander
Whenever Brimaz attacks, create a 1/1 white Cat Soldier creature token with vigilance that's attacking.
Whenever Brimaz blocks a creature, create a 1/1 white Cat Soldier creature token with vigilance that's blocking that creature.
Guide
Gameplan
Cast Brimaz on turn three and start attacking immediately, generating vigilant Cat Soldier tokens every combat that can swing again or hold the fort on defense. Build a mono-white go-wide army, then close games with token anthems and overrun effects. The deck plays as an aggressive token/Cats deck that punishes opponents who can't profitably block.
Strengths
- Generates free, board-presence-positive value just by attacking and blocking, with vigilance letting Brimaz do both
- Cheap, resilient commander that comes down early and immediately impacts the board
- Synergizes with both mono-white token payoffs and the modern Cat tribal package
- Vigilance army means you can defend three opponents while still pressuring them
Weaknesses
- Mono-white means limited card advantage and ramp compared to multicolor decks
- Vulnerable to board wipes that erase your token investment in one card
- Relies on Brimaz being on the battlefield and attacking to snowball
- Tokens are individually small and stall against decks with bigger blockers or fliers
Key Cards
- Anointed Procession — Doubles every Cat Soldier token Brimaz creates, exponentially growing your board.
- Cathars' Crusade — Pumps your whole team each time a token enters, turning Brimaz's triggers into a runaway threat.
- Skullclamp — Solves mono-white's card draw problem by sacrificing 1/1 tokens for two cards each.
- Felidar Sovereign — A Cat that converts your wide, life-gaining board into an alternate win at 40 life.
- Smothering Tithe — Premier mono-white ramp that fuels expensive anthems and overruns.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and ramp like Sol Ring, Smothering Tithe, and Land Tax to deploy threats ahead of curve, plus token doublers (Anointed Procession, Mondrak) to multiply output. Lean into a sacrifice/draw engine with Skullclamp and Welcoming Vampire to beat mono-white's card-advantage problem, and include protective pieces like Teferi's Protection and Heroic Intervention to survive the inevitable board wipes.

- ▸Commander damage via an equipped, evasive Brimaz
Archetypes
- Tokens — Every attack and block spawns vigilant tokens that token doublers and anthems exploit.
- Cats — Brimaz fits a dedicated Cat tribal shell with lords like Pride Sovereign and Regal Caracal.
- Aristocrats — Endless Cat Soldiers feed sacrifice outlets like Skullclamp and Ashnod's Altar for value.
