God-Eternal Oketra
The Commander
Double strike
Whenever you cast a creature spell, create a 4/4 black Zombie Warrior creature token with vigilance.
When God-Eternal Oketra dies or is put into exile from the battlefield, you may put it into its owner's library third from the top.
Guide
Gameplan
Cast God-Eternal Oketra and flood the board with 4/4 vigilant Zombie tokens every time you play a creature, then overwhelm the table with a massive double-striking army. You ramp into Oketra early, chain creature spells to build a wide-and-tall board, and swing for lethal commander damage or alpha-strike with the token horde.
Strengths
- Generates huge token value off any creature spell, even cheap ones, snowballing board presence fast
- Double strike makes Oketra a 10-damage commander-damage threat over three connects
- Built-in recursion sends her third from top instead of the command zone, dodging commander tax
- Mono-white gives access to the best token anthems, board wipes you can rebuild from, and protection
Weaknesses
- Mono-white struggles with card draw and ramp compared to other colors
- Heavily reliant on Oketra being on the battlefield to generate value
- Tokens are vulnerable to mass removal and board wipes that hit the whole table
- Vulnerable to flying and evasive threats since the army is mostly ground-based
Key Cards
- Cathars' Crusade — Each creature and token entering pumps your whole board, turning Oketra's tokens into game-ending threats.
- Divine Visitation — Replaces every 4/4 Zombie with a 4/4 Angel that also flies, fixing the deck's evasion problem.
- Intangible Virtue — Cheap anthem that buffs the steady stream of token Zombies for a wide attack.
- Skullclamp — Mono-white's premier draw engine, sacrificing tokens to refill your hand.
- Cryptolith Rite — Turns your growing army into mana to chain out more creature spells and trigger Oketra repeatedly.
- Akroma's Will — A finisher that grants double strike, evasion, and protection to your wide board for a surprise alpha strike.
Upgrade Path
Add cheap creature spells with their own value (ETB effects, flicker targets) to maximize the number of Oketra triggers per turn, plus token doublers like Anointed Procession. Improve mono-white's weak spots with rocks (Sol Ring, Smothering Tithe) and white's best card advantage (Esper Sentinel, Welcoming Vampire, Skullclamp). Top end like Divine Visitation, Craterhoof-style finishers (Pathbreaker Ibex, Overwhelming Stampede), and protection (Teferi's Protection, Heroic Intervention) turn the wide board into reliable, resilient kills.
