Greymond, Avacyn's Stalwart
The Commander
As Greymond, Avacyn's Stalwart enters, choose two abilities from among first strike, vigilance, and lifelink.
Humans you control have each of the chosen abilities.
As long as you control four or more Humans, Humans you control get +2/+2.
Guide
Gameplan
Greymond is a mono-white Human tribal anthem on a stick: flood the board with Human creatures, hit four or more to turn on the +2/+2 buff, and grant two keywords (typically vigilance + lifelink or first strike) to swing for lethal while staying safe. You curve out cheap Humans, deploy a lord-heavy board, and use white's go-wide payoffs and protection to crash in.
Strengths
- Built-in anthem that scales aggressively once you have four Humans
- Keyword flexibility (vigilance/lifelink/first strike) lets you adapt to threats and gain life while attacking
- Mono-white tribal has deep, cheap Human support and efficient creatures
- Lifelink + wide boards stabilize against aggro and grind out value
Weaknesses
- Mono-white means weak card advantage and ramp without specific build choices
- Heavy reliance on the commander and lords makes you vulnerable to board wipes
- Going wide is punished by sweepers; rebuilding is slow in white
- Lacks reach/evasion outside keywords, so stalled boards can be a problem
Key Cards
- Adeline, Resplendent Cathar — Generates Human tokens on every attack, quickly pushing you past the four-Human threshold and scaling with your board.
- Thalia's Lieutenant — A Human lord that pumps the team and grows when Humans enter, stacking with Greymond's anthem.
- Champion of the Parish — A one-drop that snowballs huge as you flood the board with Humans.
- Cathars' Crusade — Turns every Human you deploy into a permanent team-wide pump, making boards lethal fast.
- Heroic Intervention — Protects your wide, lord-dependent board from the board wipes that otherwise wreck the deck.
- Smuggler's Copter — Crews with any Human for evasive damage and card filtering, fixing white's card-draw issues.
Upgrade Path
Add mono-white card advantage and ramp—Welcoming Vampire, Mentor of the Meek, Smothering Tithe, and mana rocks like Sol Ring and Arcane Signet—to offset white's weaknesses. Pack more anthem redundancy and finishers (Coat of Arms, Shared Triumph, Path of Ancestry) plus protection (Flawless Maneuver, Teferi's Protection) so a single wrath doesn't end the game. Tune the curve low and add efficient evasion or equipment like Skullclamp to refuel after combat.

Win Conditions
- ▸Alpha strike with a buffed, keyworded Human army for lethal combat damage
- ▸Overrun effects (e.g., Cathars' Crusade plus Coat of Arms) to make swings unstoppable
- ▸Evasive Humans plus anthems chipping in lifelinked, hard-to-block damage
Archetypes
- Human Tribal Aggro — Greymond is a literal anthem and keyword-granting lord that rewards a critical mass of Humans.
- Go-Wide Tokens — Token makers like Adeline trip the four-Human threshold and amplify the +2/+2 buff across the board.
- Voltron-lite Aggro — Granting first strike and lifelink to a buffed Human core lets you push profitable, life-gaining attacks.
