Ioreth of the Healing House
The Commander
: Untap another target permanent.
: Untap two other target legendary creatures.
Guide
Gameplan
Ioreth turns untap effects into a value engine: tap her to untap a high-value permanent (a big mana rock, a tap-ability creature) or untap two legendary creatures for double activations. The deck leans on legendary creature synergies, tap-down ability abuse, and big mana to power out a controlling or combo-oriented blue game. You ramp, protect Ioreth, and chain her ability into something that ends games.
Strengths
- Effectively grants pseudo-vigilance and double activations to your best tap-ability permanents
- Enables explosive mana via untapping rocks/lands like Gilded Lotus or Nykthos
- Strong combo potential with any 'tap to draw/produce/loot' engine
- Cheap three-mana commander that comes down early and immediately generates value
Weaknesses
- Single-color (blue) means no native removal for creatures or enchantments outside of bounce/counters
- Ability is sorcery-speed reliant on Ioreth surviving and being untapped
- Summoning sickness delays her the turn she enters
- Combo-reliant builds fold to graveyard hate, stax, and persistent commander hate
Key Cards
- Aphetto Alchemist — Untapping it with Ioreth lets you double-untap mana rocks, building toward infinite mana loops.
- Gilded Lotus — Untapping it each turn doubles your colorless ramp and fuels expensive blue payoffs.
- Pemmin's Aura — Combined with Ioreth and a mana creature it can generate infinite untaps and triggers.
- Thousand-Year Elixir — Gives Ioreth haste and an extra untap, accelerating the engine the turn she lands.
- Arcum Dagsson — A legendary tap-ability creature Ioreth can untap to chain artifact tutors into a win.
- Isochron Scepter — Imprint a cantrip or untapper and abuse repeatable casts alongside Ioreth's loops.
Upgrade Path
Lean into a tight combo package—pair Ioreth with Aphetto Alchemist, Pemmin's Aura, and a mana dork for infinite mana, then add a deterministic outlet like Blue Sun's Zenith. Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault) and protection (Pact of Negation, Veil of Summer, Heroic Intervention analogues like Swiftfoot Boots) plus haste enablers so Ioreth combos the turn she resolves. Round out with efficient cantrips and counterspells to find pieces and defend the engine.

Win Conditions
- ▸Infinite mana into a large X-spell like Stroke of Genius or Blue Sun's Zenith to draw out or deck opponents
- ▸Infinite activations of a tap-ability creature (e.g., a damage or mill engine)
- ▸Hard-cast oversized blue finishers or extra-turn loops
- ▸Voltron a single big legendary threat empowered by repeated untaps
Archetypes
- Combo — Untapping mana producers and tap-ability creatures sets up infinite mana and infinite activation loops.
- Control — Mono-blue access to counters and card draw, with Ioreth untapping during others' turns for flexibility.
- Superfriends/Legends — Her second mode untaps two legendary creatures, rewarding a legend-heavy build full of activated abilities.
- Big Mana Ramp — Untapping high-value rocks and lands lets you cast oversized blue threats and X-spells early.
