Judith, Carnage Connoisseur
The Commander
Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, choose one —
• That spell gains deathtouch and lifelink.
• Create a 2/2 red Imp creature token with "When this token dies, it deals 2 damage to each opponent."
Guide
Gameplan
Cast a high volume of cheap, copyable instants and sorceries; each cast either pumps a damage spell into a removal-everything lifelink bomb or spits out an Imp token. Build a board of Imps, then sacrifice or kill them to drain everyone, or go wide and swing. Spellslinger value snowballs as copy effects multiply both triggers.
Strengths
- Every spell cast generates a body or a powerful keyword grant, giving relentless value
- Imps that deal 2 damage on death make blocking and board wipes punish opponents
- Deathtouch + lifelink on a burn or X-spell turns removal into a life swing and creature kill
- Strong synergy with spell-copy effects that multiply Judith triggers
Weaknesses
- Five-mana commander that does nothing the turn it lands
- Heavily reliant on Judith staying on the battlefield to function
- Red/black lacks card draw and ramp compared to other color pairs
- Tokens are fragile to sweepers if you can't profit from their deaths
Key Cards
- Bitter Reunion — Cheap spell triggering Judith while filtering toward your payoff sorceries.
- Fiery Emancipation — Triples burn damage on a deathtouch-lifelink spell for explosive kills and life gain.
- Birgi, God of Storytelling — Refunds mana on every spell, enabling long Judith chains that flood the board with Imps.
- Pitiless Plunderer — Turns dying Imps into treasure, fueling more spells and aristocrat loops.
- Pyromancer's Goggles — Copies red spells, doubling Judith triggers for extra Imps or pumped burn.
- Zada, Hedron Grinder — Multiplies a single targeted spell into many casts is mimicked by mass copy effects boosting Judith.
Upgrade Path
Add spell-copy engines (Pyromancer's Goggles, Twinning Staff, Veyran-style doublers in color) and cost reducers like Birgi and Goblin Anarchomancer to chain more triggers per turn. Lean into sacrifice payoffs—Mayhem Devil, Bastion of Remembrance, Zulaport Cutthroat—so Imp deaths win outright. Improve mana with Treasure makers and ritual effects, and include protection like Lightning Greaves to keep Judith online.
