Prosper, Tome-Bound
The Commander
Deathtouch
Mystic Arcanum — At the beginning of your end step, exile the top card of your library. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card.
Pact Boon — Whenever you play a card from exile, create a Treasure token.
Guide
Gameplan
Prosper turns your library into a perpetual card-advantage engine, exiling a card each end step you can play next turn while spawning Treasure every time you cast from exile. You ramp aggressively with those Treasures, flood the board with impulse-draw value, and convert that surplus into either a big mana payoff, an aristocrats drain, or a combo finish.
Strengths
- Relentless card advantage and Treasure generation that snowballs every turn cycle
- Synergizes with the deep pool of red impulse-draw effects to multiply triggers
- Deathtouch makes Prosper a respectable blocker and political deterrent
- Treasure ramp enables explosive turns and supports artifact/sacrifice subthemes
- Self-sufficient engine that grinds well against attrition decks
Weaknesses
- Heavily commander-dependent; recasting Prosper repeatedly gets expensive
- Engine is slow to close games without a dedicated payoff or combo
- Vulnerable to graveyard/exile hate and Treasure-token wipes
- Two colors limit interaction (few clean answers to enchantments/artifacts)
- Can durdle and generate value without an actual board presence to win
Key Cards
- Glint-Horn Buccaneer — Drains every opponent for each card you play from exile, turning Prosper's impulse draws into a steady damage clock.
- Storm-Kiln Artist — Makes Treasures off every spell, accelerating mana and combo loops alongside Prosper's own Treasure triggers.
- Birgi, God of Storytelling — Adds mana each cast, fueling chains of exile-cast spells that snowball into huge turns.
- Underworld Breach — With Treasures and an outlet like Lightning Crafter or Brain Freeze, it enables a game-ending combo finish.
- Bag of Holding — Recurs discarded cards and stacks value with Prosper's exile draws and Treasure-fueled looting.
- Dockside Extortionist — Explosive Treasure generation that turbocharges Prosper's mana and artifact payoffs.
Upgrade Path
Tighten the engine with cheap impulse-draw and cost reducers (Birgi, Storm-Kiln Artist, Sol Ring, fast mana) and add a dedicated combo line like Underworld Breach + Brain Freeze or Lightning Crafter loops. Replace win-more value cards with tutors (Gamble, Vampiric Tutor) and consistent payoffs (Glint-Horn Buccaneer, Bag of Holding) so Treasures convert directly into wins. Upgrade the mana base with dual lands and fast mana to deploy Prosper and protect the engine earlier.

Archetypes
- Spellslinger / Impulse Draw — Prosper rewards casting cards from exile, pairing perfectly with red's impulse-draw suite for repeated Treasure and damage triggers.

- Aristocrats — Treasures and exiled creatures give fodder for sacrifice engines and drain effects.
- Storm / Combo — Treasure mana plus cast-triggers enable Underworld Breach and ritual-driven combo kills.
