• Return any number of target nonland permanents with total mana value 6 or less to their owners' hands.
• Mill six cards, then return up to two instant and/or sorcery cards from your graveyard to your hand.
Kairi is a mono-blue value engine that rewards sacrificing and recurring her to grind incremental advantage while you assemble a controlling, spell-heavy board. You stall behind counters, bounce, and card draw, then loop Kairi's death triggers to bounce threats or rebuy your best instants/sorceries until you out-resource the table. Most games end via a big finisher creature, an extra-turn loop, or a recurred wincon spell.
Built-in ward and a death trigger make her hard to answer profitably
Repeatable value: every death bounces problem permanents or refills your spells
Mono-blue gives access to the format's best counterspells, card draw, and tutors
Death triggers reward intentionally sacrificing her, dodging removal-based disruption
Mono-color means no easy ramp or removal outside artifacts and blue's narrow options
Doesn't protect itself once on the battlefield beyond ward; exile gets around her trigger
Death trigger value cap of MV 6 limits the bounce mode against big permanents
Slow to close games — can durdle without a dedicated finisher package
Puts your best instant/sorcery back on top, synergizing with the recursion theme.
Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crystals, Mana Vault) and free sac outlets to enable consistent death-trigger loops earlier. Lean into a tight extra-turn or bounce-loop package with recursion like Mystic Sanctuary and Snapcaster Mage, and add protection such as Heroic Intervention's blue equivalents (Tamiyo's Safekeeping, counterspell backup). Trim durdly card draw for compact wincons so the value engine actually converts into a kill.
