Karazikar, the Eye Tyrant
The Commander
Whenever you attack a player, tap target creature that player controls and goad it. (Until your next turn, that creature attacks each combat if able and attacks a player other than you if able.)
Whenever an opponent attacks another one of your opponents, you and the attacking player each draw a card and lose 1 life.
Guide
Gameplan
Karazikar turns the whole table into your weapon: force opponents to swing at each other via goad, draw extra cards (and drain a little life) each time they do, then pick off the weakened survivors. You attack to tap-and-goad blockers, control combat to keep aggression pointed away from you, and grind value while opponents trade resources fighting one another. Close the game with direct damage, big swings, or a goad-fueled combo.
Strengths
- Massive card advantage engine that triggers off opponents attacking each other
- Goad warps every combat in your favor and lets opponents do your dirty work
- Lives in efficient BR removal and burn, so you can clean up after the chaos
- Politically powerful—you point threats wherever you want
Weaknesses
- Karazikar is a 5-mana 3/3 that dies to nearly everything and is removal-magnet
- Heavily commander-dependent; the engine stalls without him on the battlefield
- BR lacks ramp, card-draw outside Karazikar, and enchantment/artifact removal
- Can paint a target on yourself by aggressively manipulating combat
Key Cards
- Disrupt Decorum — Goads every creature your opponents control at once, triggering a flood of Karazikar draws and chaos.
- Grenzo, Havoc Raiser — Adds another goad-on-attack engine and steals value, stacking with Karazikar's triggers.
- Bloodthirsty Blade — Repeatable single-creature goad that you can move around to keep an attacker pointed at others each turn.
- Swiftfoot Boots — Hexproof protection keeps your fragile, removal-bait commander online to power the engine.
- Marisi, Breaker of the Coil — Goads creatures whenever you deal combat damage and forces them to attack, fueling Karazikar repeatedly.
- Disrupt the Big Lie — Cheap mass-goad effects multiply Karazikar's draw triggers across the table.
Upgrade Path
Add more mass-goad enablers (Disrupt Decorum, Battle of Wits-style effects, Grenzo) and commander protection (Lightning Greaves, Whispersilk Cloak) to keep the engine reliable. Improve mana with fast rocks (Arcane Signet, Talisman of Indulgence) and add card-advantage backups like Theater of Horrors and Underworld Breach. Tighten the kill with burn finishers or a goad-based combo such as Disrupt Decorum into a board you can punch through.

Win Conditions
- ▸Incremental life loss from Karazikar's drain triggers plus goaded combat whittling everyone down
- ▸Direct burn and X-spells (Fireball, Comet Storm) to finish weakened opponents
- ▸Capitalizing on a board emptied by goaded attacks with your own evasive or aggressive creatures
Archetypes
- Goad / Politics — Karazikar's tap-and-goad and reward for opponent-on-opponent attacks is the format's premier goad payoff.
- Group Slug / Pillow Fort — You profit from combat while protecting yourself, slugging incremental damage and life loss across the table.
- Control — Cheap BR removal plus card advantage lets you manage threats and grind opponents into the ground.
