Whenever one or more Pirates you control deal damage to your opponents, you create a Treasure token for each opponent dealt damage. (It's an artifact with ", Sacrifice this token: Add one mana of any color.")
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
Deploy cheap evasive Pirates, connect with combat damage to generate Treasures, then snowball that ramp into card advantage, big spells, or a combo finish. Malcolm flies and triggers on his own, so even a single point of unblocked damage per opponent banks Treasures every turn. With Partner you'll usually pair him to add a second color, removal, or a combo engine.
Repeatable, scalable Treasure ramp that fuels expensive spells and fixes mana when paired with another color via Partner
Evasive flying body that reliably triggers itself and survives most board wipes targeting the ground
Enables fast, explosive turns and supports several dedicated infinite combos
Pirates synergy gives access to value tribal pieces and aggressive evasive threats
Fragile in mono-blue — limited removal and few ways to protect Malcolm or recover after a wipe
Treasure engine collapses if Malcolm is removed and you lack other Pirate damage
Vulnerable to graveyard hate and Treasure/artifact hate against the combo builds
Combat-damage dependency means fog effects, flying blockers, or pillowfort defenses slow you down
Choose a Partner to define the deck — Breeches for the dedicated infinite-mana combo, Kediss for aggressive reach, or Tymna/Tana-style off-color partners aren't legal in mono-U so stay within partners that add value. Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt), efficient tutors (Mystical Tutor, Spellseeker), and protection (Pact of Negation, Swan Song) to make the combo turns more consistent and resilient. Tighten the curve with cheap evasive Pirates and untap engines so Treasures come online by turn three.
