Land
LegalEDHREC #50
, Pay 1 life, Sacrifice this land: Search your library for a Plains or Swamp card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
Why is this card good?
Marsh Flats is a premium fetchland and a near-auto-include in any deck running white and/or black. Its value isn't just mana fixing — it's deck consistency and synergy.
Why it's great: Fetchlands thin your deck slightly and, more importantly, grab basics or duals/shocks/triomes with the right subtypes. They enable landfall, fuel graveyard strategies, and trigger "land enters" or sacrifice payoffs. In black especially, paying 1 life is trivial.
Who wants it:
- Any W/B deck (Orzhov) or partial overlap like Mardu, Esper, Abzan.
- Landfall decks (extra triggers from the fetch).
- Graveyard/reanimator decks that want lands and self-mill setup.
- Decks running fetch-synergy payoffs (Crucible of Worlds, Tireless Tracker, etc.).
When NOT to play it: If your deck only wants one of Plains/Swamp and runs zero relevant duals to grab, a tapped or untapped basic is often fine — the 1 life and shuffle add up in grindy or aggressive-life metas. Also skip it in budget builds where the price isn't justified.
