Why is this card good?
Talisman of Hierarchy is a premium two-mana rock for any Orzhov deck. The reason it beats Mind Stone or basic Signets in many builds is simple: it's a one-card mana source that ramps you to four mana on turn three, and crucially the colored mana it produces costs you life — which in Orzhov is often an upside or irrelevant.
Why it's great:
- Fixing + ramp on turn two in a guild that frequently struggles with both.
- The 1 damage is trivial; many BW decks (aristocrats, lifegain, Vito/Marchesa-style payoffs) actually want their own life as a resource.
- Untaps for freely when you only need colorless.
Who wants it: virtually every competitive-leaning Orzhov commander — Teysa, Elenda, Ghen, Liesa — plus any deck pushing toward fast, consistent starts.
