Headliner Scarlett
The Commander
Haste
When Headliner Scarlett enters, creatures target player controls can't block this turn.
At the beginning of your upkeep, exile the top card of your library face down. You may look at and play that card this turn.
Guide
Gameplan
Headliner Scarlett is a mono-red aggro/impulse commander who wants to swing in hard and grind out card advantage off the top of your deck. Cast her, alpha strike through a player who can't block, and reduce their life total fast while your upkeep trigger fuels a constant stream of plays. You snowball impulse draw into more pressure and burn to close.
Strengths
- Built-in unblockable-style trigger lets you push a big alpha strike or deliver commander damage
- Consistent card advantage in mono-red via the upkeep impulse draw
- Haste means immediate impact every time she enters and is hard to fully blank
- Pairs with extra combat and blink effects to repeat her can't-block trigger
Weaknesses
- Mono-red lacks ramp, tutors, and interaction compared to multicolor decks
- Impulse draw forces you to use cards immediately or lose them, leading to mana waste
- Vulnerable to board wipes and instant-speed removal that reset your aggression
- Single-target can't-block trigger only hits one opponent per cast in multiplayer
Key Cards
- Magus of the Wheel — Refills your hand and synergizes with red's wheel package to keep pressure high.
- Birgi, God of Storytelling — Generates mana off your spell-heavy chains, helping you actually cast your impulse cards.
- Reconnaissance Mission — Combat-damage card draw stacks on top of Scarlett's own engine, but note her own ability already draws—prioritize unblockable payoffs.
- Combat Celebrant — Extra combat steps let you swing again and squeeze more value from your aggressive board.
- Ilharg, the Raze-Boar — Reliably puts fatties into play and works with Scarlett's unblockable enabling for huge damage.
- Fervor — Gives the rest of your board haste so everything can attack alongside Scarlett.
Upgrade Path
Add mana rocks and rituals like Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, and Jeska's Will so you can keep up with your impulse draw and never miss a card. Lean into extra-combat enablers (Aggravated Assault, Combat Celebrant) and unblockable/evasion payoffs, plus card-advantage redundancy like Outpost Siege and Light Up the Stage. For top-end power, include haymakers such as Ilharg, the Raze-Boar and a strong equipment voltron package to threaten lethal commander damage.
