Jazal Goldmane
The Commander
First strike (This creature deals combat damage before creatures without first strike.)
: Attacking creatures you control get +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of attacking creatures.
Guide
Gameplan
Flood the board with creatures—especially tokens—then alpha strike with Jazal's overrun-style anthem to deal lethal in one swing. You ramp into wide boards early, protect your team, then activate during combat (often multiple times) to make every attacker enormous.
Strengths
- Repeatable, scalable team pump that can deal lethal across the table from an established board
- Mono-white keeps the mana base consistent and cheap
- Token strategies make the activated ability scale explosively
- First strike makes Jazal a reasonable blocker and combatant on his own
Weaknesses
- Mono-white struggles with card advantage and ramp compared to other colors
- Vulnerable to board wipes that erase your whole army before you can swing
- The pump ability is mana-hungry and telegraphed, so opponents can hold up removal or fog
- No built-in evasion—wide boards get chump-blocked or stonewalled by bigger blockers
Key Cards
- Skullclamp — Mono-white's premier card engine—turn 1-toughness tokens into a steady stream of cards.
- Smothering Tithe — Solves white's ramp problem and fuels repeated activations of Jazal's expensive ability.
- Heroic Intervention — Protects your go-wide board from wraths and targeted removal right before the alpha strike.
- Cathars' Crusade — Stacks counters every time a token enters, snowballing your army even without Jazal's activation.
- Anointed Procession — Doubles every token you make, dramatically widening the board for Jazal's X/X pump.
- Idol of Oblivion — Rewards token decks with reliable card draw to refuel after a wipe.
Upgrade Path
Lean hard into ramp and token doublers—add Smothering Tithe, Land Tax, and mana rocks so you can activate Jazal multiple times in a turn, plus Anointed Procession and Parallel Lives effects. Add anthem and protection density (Heroic Intervention, Teferi's Protection, Flawless Maneuver) to survive wraths, and evasion like Coat of Arms or trample sources (Loyal Apprentice, Shifting Shadow alternatives) to push damage through. Tighten the curve with cheap token generators and Skullclamp/Idol of Oblivion for card advantage to keep the board refilling.

Win Conditions
- ▸Alpha strike: pump all attackers with Jazal for an overrun-style lethal
- ▸Token swarm overwhelming blockers across multiple combats
- ▸Commander damage via Jazal himself buffed by his own activated ability with evasion
Archetypes
- Tokens — More attackers means a bigger X on Jazal's ability and a wider lethal swing.
- Go-Wide Aggro — Jazal turns any creature-heavy board into a one-turn kill via the team-wide overrun.
- Voltron-ish Aggro — With few but evasive attackers, Jazal can pump a single flyer or unblocked threat to lethal.
