Mina and Denn, Wildborn
The Commander
You may play an additional land on each of your turns.
, Return a land you control to its owner's hand: Target creature gains trample until end of turn.
Guide
Gameplan
Mina and Denn turn extra land drops and the ability to bounce-and-replay lands into a relentless landfall engine. You ramp hard, abuse landfall triggers for damage and tokens, and grind value while occasionally granting trample to push through a big attacker. Most games close out by snowballing a wide board or a single huge creature on the back of explosive mana.
Strengths
- Doubles your land drops for fast, consistent ramp and big mana
- Bounce ability repeatedly re-triggers landfall payoffs each turn
- Cheap, easily-cast commander that fuels Gruul's largest threats
- Trample granting helps oversized creatures break through chump blockers
Weaknesses
- Reliant on drawing payoffs—without landfall engines the ability is filler
- Bouncing your own lands can set you back if disrupted or board-wiped
- No card advantage or protection built into the commander
- Vulnerable to land destruction and Stax that punish mana investment
Key Cards
- Lotus Cobra — Turns every extra and re-played land into a burst of mana for explosive turns.
- Avenger of Zendikar — Each landfall pumps your plant army, and Mina lets you re-trigger it by bouncing lands.
- Scapeshift — Dumps lands to the battlefield to maximize landfall payoffs and combo finishes.
- Tireless Tracker — Generates Clues off landfall and grows huge with all the extra land drops.
- Crucible of Worlds — Lets you replay bounced lands from the graveyard for endless landfall value.
- Splendid Reclamation — Returns every fetched land at once for a massive landfall blowout.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and ramp (Lotus Cobra, Dryad of the Ilysian Grove, Cultivate) plus more landfall payoffs (Rampaging Baloths, Scute Swarm). Lean into Crucible of Worlds, Ramunap Excavator, and Splendid Reclamation to recur lands for repeatable triggers. Top it off with Craterhoof Behemoth or a landfall combo to convert your board state into a decisive win.
