Raubahn, Bull of Ala Mhigo
The Commander
Ward—Pay life equal to Raubahn's power.
Whenever Raubahn attacks, attach up to one target Equipment you control to target attacking creature.
Guide
Gameplan
Suit up Raubahn (or another attacker) with cheap, powerful Equipment and start swinging early; his attack trigger lets you move Equipment around for free each combat, dodging summoning sickness and equip costs. Snowball his power with combat-damage and +1/+1 buffs until Ward pays for itself and he kills in one or two hits. Mono-red aggression plus reusable free equipment attaches lets you pivot blows toward whichever attacker matters most.
Strengths
- Free Equipment attach every combat saves enormous mana versus paying equip costs
- Ward—pay life scales with his power, making him hard to spot-remove once buffed
- Cheap two-mana commander that can deploy and threaten lethal extremely fast
- Flexible attach can move auras of protection or evasion onto whatever attacker is unblocked
Weaknesses
- Mono-red lacks card draw and struggles to recover from sweepers
- Ward keys off power, so a board wipe or bounce resets your whole investment
- Equipment-heavy hands are clunky with no creature to carry them
- No protection from blockers without dedicated evasion equipment
- Vulnerable to fog effects and go-wide gum-up since he relies on connecting
Key Cards
- Embercleave — Cheap to cast in a wide aggro deck and Raubahn can immediately reattach it for double strike and trample lethality.
- Fireshrieker — Grants double strike to amplify his snowballing power and trigger combat-damage equipment twice.
- Sword of Fire and Ice — Adds protection, evasion, removal, and card draw—everything mono-red equipment wants on a connecting attacker.
- Lightning Greaves — Haste lets Raubahn attack the turn he lands and reattach itself onto new threats.
- Hammer of Nazahn — Indestructible plus free auto-attach synergizes with moving Equipment around the team.
- Puresteel Paladin — Free equip with metalcraft and card draw off Equipment casts solves red's card disadvantage.
- Sigarda's Aid — Flash Equipment in and attach at instant speed for surprise combat blowouts.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Mox Diamond, Jeska's Will, Ragavan) and tutors like Steelshaper's Gift, Stoneforge Mystic, and Open the Armory to assemble your best Equipment consistently. Lean into haste enablers and protection (Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, Mithril Coat) so Raubahn survives removal, then close faster with double-strike pieces (Fireshrieker, Embercleave) and extra-combat spells like Aggravated Assault or World at War.
