Thrasios, Triton Hero
The Commander
: Scry 1, then reveal the top card of your library. If it's a land card, put it onto the battlefield tapped. Otherwise, draw a card.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
Guide
Gameplan
Thrasios is a mana sink and card-advantage engine that turns excess ramp into scry, lands, and cards. Most builds ramp hard early, then use Thrasios's ability to grind value or assemble an infinite-mana combo, with Partner letting you pair a second commander for color extension or a combo piece. You win by either out-resourcing the table or generating infinite mana and dumping it into the ability to draw your deck.
Strengths
- Color identity expands to four (or more) colors via Partner, enabling premium combo and control packages.
- Built-in card advantage that needs no other cards once you have mana.
- Infinite mana immediately becomes a win with Thrasios's activated ability (draw your deck, then win).
- Cheap two-mana body that's easy to recast and hard to punish.
Weaknesses
- The
ability is mana-hungry and slow without ramp or rituals.
- Does little on its own and provides no board presence or protection.
- Relies heavily on assembling a combo or strong mana base to outperform a fair value plan.
- Vulnerable to mana denial and stax that shut off its activated ability.
Key Cards
- Thassa's Oracle — Wins on the spot after you draw your library with infinite Thrasios activations.
- Dramatic Reversal — With nonland mana rocks producing 3+ mana it makes infinite mana to fuel Thrasios.
- Isochron Scepter — Imprints Dramatic Reversal for a reusable infinite-mana combo engine.
- Devoted Druid — Pairs with mana doublers/Swift Reconfiguration for infinite mana to dump into Thrasios.
- Mana Drain — Premium counter that protects your combo and ramps you into Thrasios activations.
- Cyclonic Rift — Resets the board and clears interaction before you go off.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Sol Ring, Chrome Mox) and dual lands to power out Thrasios faster and enable rituals. Lean into compact infinite-mana combos like Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal or Devoted Druid lines, and pick a strong Partner (Tymna, Kraum, Vial Smasher, Bruse Tarl) to expand colors and add a backup wincon. Tighten the manabase, add efficient counterspells and tutors (Demonic/Vampiric depending on partner) to make the deck a true cEDH engine.

Archetypes

- Control — GU(+) interaction backed by Thrasios as an inevitable card-advantage engine.
- Midrange Value — Ramp into a steady stream of lands and cards for a grindy, resilient game plan.
- Partner Toolbox — Pairing with another partner adds colors and dedicated combo or aggro angles.
