Calix, Guided by Fate
The Commander
Constellation — Whenever Calix or another enchantment you control enters, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
Whenever Calix or an enchanted creature you control deals combat damage to a player, you may create a token that's a copy of a nonlegendary enchantment you control. Do this only once each turn.
Guide
Gameplan
Calix is a GW enchantress that turns a wide enchantment base into a growing army, fueling Constellation triggers to grow creatures and connecting in combat to copy your best Auras and enchantments. You ramp into enchantments early, build a board of buffed, enchanted creatures, then snowball value by token-copying powerhouse enchantments each turn. Win by overwhelming with enchanted beaters or assembling enchantment-based engines.
Strengths
- Deep, resilient card advantage from enchantress effects every time an enchantment enters
- Free enchantment copies via combat damage compound value quickly
- GW has excellent enchantment ramp and recursion
- Constellation counters make even small creatures into real threats
Weaknesses
- Combat-dependent copy ability requires connecting damage, vulnerable to blockers and removal
- Slower to close than dedicated combo decks
- Heavy reliance on the board state—wraths and enchantment hate hurt badly
- No interaction or evasion baked into the colors without dedicated slots
Key Cards
- Sythis, Harvester of Fate — Premier enchantress engine that draws cards off every enchantment cast, refilling your hand.
- Eidolon of Blossoms — Constellation card draw that pairs perfectly with Calix's own Constellation trigger.
- Sterling Grove — Tutors any enchantment and protects your enchantment-heavy board.
- Sigil of the Empty Throne — Turns your enchantment spells into a flying angel army for fast, evasive kills.
- Setessan Champion — Doubles as a draw engine and a body that grows from every enchantment you play.
- All That Glitters — A cheap Aura that scales with your enchantment count and triggers the copy ability when connecting.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and enchantment ramp like Smothering Tithe, Wild Growth, and Utopia Sprawl to deploy threats ahead of schedule. Lean into evasion (Rancor, trample/flying Auras) so Calix reliably connects to copy enchantments, and include tutors like Idyllic Tutor and Enlightened Tutor to find your best payoff. Top-end copy targets such as Doubling Season, Smothering Tithe, or Mirari's Wake turn the combat trigger into a runaway engine.
