Chiss-Goria, Forge Tyrant
The Commander
Affinity for artifacts (This spell costs less to cast for each artifact you control.)
Flying, haste
Whenever Chiss-Goria attacks, exile the top five cards of your library. You may cast an artifact spell from among them this turn. If you do, it has affinity for artifacts.
Guide
Gameplan
Flood the board with cheap artifacts to cast Chiss-Goria for next to nothing, then swing with a hasty 7/7 flier to dig five cards deep for free artifact spells each combat. You snowball mana rocks, artifact creatures, and big bombs into an unbeatable board, then close with evasive damage or an artifact-fueled combo.
Strengths
- Comes down absurdly cheap (often for
or free) thanks to Affinity, so resilient to removal—just recast it
- Flying + haste means immediate, evasive pressure and instant card/value advantage on attack
- Built-in repeatable card advantage and free casts snowball your artifact engine hard
- Mono-red artifacts has deep support and consistent ramp via Treasures and rocks
Weaknesses
- Mono-red means weak interaction, no enchantment removal, and limited card draw outside artifacts
- Heavily reliant on a healthy artifact board—mass artifact wipes (Vandalblast, Bane of Progress) are brutal
- Commander costs 9 mana base; an empty board makes it nearly uncastable
- Attack trigger only finds artifacts, so dead flips happen if you draw too few artifact spells
Key Cards
- Sol Ring — Premier cheap rock that both ramps and discounts Chiss-Goria via Affinity.
- Mind Stone — Cheap artifact that reduces cost early and cashes in for a card later.
- Goblin Engineer — Tutors artifacts to the battlefield, growing your Affinity count and finding combo pieces.
- Kuldotha Forgemaster — Sacrifices three artifacts to tutor any artifact straight to play, a top-end payoff.
- Etali, Primal Conqueror — A huge artifact bomb you can flip into for free off the attack trigger.
- Urza's Saga — Makes Construct tokens scaling with your artifacts while tutoring a cheap rock.
Upgrade Path
Lower your curve with more cheap and zero-cost artifacts (Ornithopter, Chromatic Star, Mishra's Bauble) to maximize Affinity and consistency. Add fast mana (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Jeska's Will) and protection like Lightning Greaves to make the commander uncounterable pressure. Top with explosive payoffs and combos—Kuldotha Forgemaster lines, Voltaic Key/Time Vault, or Walking Ballista with Hangarback synergies—to convert artifact density into a deterministic win.
