Ezio, Blade of Vengeance
The Commander
Deathtouch (Any amount of damage this deals to a creature is enough to destroy it.)
Whenever an Assassin you control deals combat damage to a player, draw a card.
Guide
Gameplan
Assemble a swarm of Assassins and use deathtouch and evasion to grind opponents down while drawing extra cards on every connection. Ezio turns each unblocked Assassin into card advantage, so you flood the board, attack widely, and convert that into a snowballing engine that eventually closes with combat or a payoff once your hand and board are stacked.
Strengths
- Tribal Assassins payoff that generates serious card advantage from many small attackers
- Deathtouch makes Ezio and his crew brutal blockers and attackers, deterring big creatures
- UB gives access to premium removal, recursion, and card draw to support the engine
- Multiple unblocked attackers can each trigger draws, snowballing hard
Weaknesses
- Relatively shallow Assassin tribal pool compared to Zombies/Vampires
- Relies on creatures connecting, so board wipes and fog effects shut it down
- Five-mana commander that needs a board to do anything meaningful
- Vulnerable to flyers and ground-stalling if it can't push damage through
Key Cards
- Coat of Arms — Pumps your Assassin swarm into a lethal, draw-generating army.
- Whispersilk Cloak — Makes an Assassin unblockable so Ezio's draw trigger fires reliably.
- Rogue's Passage — Pushes a key Assassin through for guaranteed combat damage and card draw.
- Royal Assassin — On-tribe deathtouch threat that kills tapped creatures and triggers off combat.
- Cover of Darkness — Grants your Assassins fear-style evasion to keep the draw engine connecting.
- Reconnaissance — Lets attackers connect for damage then dodge blocks, maximizing triggers safely.
Upgrade Path
Add unblockable enablers (Whispersilk Cloak, Rogue's Passage, Trailblazer's Boots) and anthems like Coat of Arms to maximize triggers and damage. Lean into UB's best interaction and recursion—counterspells, targeted removal, and reanimation—to protect the engine, and consider extra-combat effects to multiply draws. Tighten the curve and add fast mana to deploy Ezio and a follow-up board sooner.

Archetypes
- Assassin Tribal — Ezio rewards every Assassin that connects with a card, anchoring a go-wide tribal build.
- Aggro/Midrange Combat — Deathtouch plus evasion lets you trade up and grind boards while drawing cards.
- Voltron-lite — Equip evasion onto Ezio and his deathtouch makes him a fast, card-drawing clock.
- Control — UB removal and Ezio's deterrent body let you stall, draw, and out-resource opponents.
