Gwenna, Eyes of Gaea
The Commander
: Add two mana in any combination of colors. Spend this mana only to cast creature spells or activate abilities of creature sources.
Whenever you cast a creature spell with power 5 or greater, put a +1/+1 counter on Gwenna and untap it.
Guide
Gameplan
Use Gwenna as a turbo mana dork that ramps two mana toward creatures, then chain big creatures (power 5+) to untap her and snowball mana while she grows. You flood the board with huge bodies, untapping Gwenna each time to chain into even more threats in a single turn, then close with overwhelming creature power.
Strengths
- Explosive creature-focused ramp that effectively doubles each big creature cast into more mana
- Snowballs out of control—each 5+ power creature untaps her and adds counters, enabling chains
- Cheap commander (CMC 3) that comes online fast in mono-green
- Thrives in a color with the best fatties, ramp, and recursion
Weaknesses
- Mana is restricted to creatures only—no help for ramp/draw/removal spells or noncreature payoffs
- Heavily creature-dependent, so board wipes set you back hard
- Removal-magnet commander that opponents will kill on sight before she snowballs
- Mono-green struggles with interaction, card advantage, and answering noncreature problems
Key Cards
- Craterhoof Behemoth — Classic mono-green finisher that turns your wide, huge board into lethal damage in one swing.
- Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger — Power 5+ creature that untaps Gwenna and doubles your already-explosive ramp.
- Selvala, Heart of the Wilds — Another mana engine that pours out absurd mana off your big creatures to chain more spells.
- Cloudstone Curio — Bounce-loops big creatures to repeatedly trigger Gwenna's untap and re-cast value.
- Ghalta, Primal Hunger — Cheap, gigantic 5+ power creature that untaps Gwenna and pressures the board immediately.
- Heroic Intervention — Cheap protection to keep Gwenna and your board safe through removal and wraths.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana that creatures can't fix (Sol Ring is restricted but ramp like Carpet of Flowers, Sakura-Tribe Elder, Crop Rotation into Gaea's Cradle helps), and lean into untap loops with Temur Sabertooth or Cloudstone Curio plus Walking Ballista/Craterhoof to convert mana into wins. Prioritize protection (Heroic Intervention, Ranger-Captain of Eos, Allosaurus Shepherd) and recursion (Wildest Dreams, Greater Good) so a single wrath doesn't end your game. Tighten the curve toward impactful 5+ power creatures that immediately re-trigger Gwenna rather than vanilla fatties.

- Stompy/Aggro — She fuels an early, overwhelming green beatdown supported by overrun effects.
