Lily Bowen, Raging Grandma
The Commander
Lily Bowen enters with two +1/+1 counters on it.
At the beginning of your upkeep, double the number of +1/+1 counters on Lily Bowen if its power is 16 or less. Otherwise, remove all but one +1/+1 counter from it, then you gain 1 life for each +1/+1 counter removed this way.
Guide
Gameplan
Lily is a mono-green Voltron beater that snowballs +1/+1 counters with zero investment—she doubles them every upkeep until she's huge. Ramp her out, suit her up with evasion and combat tricks, and swing for lethal commander damage; the upkeep reset to one counter even refuels your life total in long games. Turn to turn you protect her, add trample/double strike, and use her counter pile to fuel green payoffs.
Strengths
- Free, exponential growth with no cards spent—she's a clock by herself
- Vigilance lets her attack and block, surviving most board states
- Mono-green gives consistent ramp and cheap recovery after wraths
- Built-in lifegain ceiling that buys time against aggressive tables
Weaknesses
- Classic Voltron fragility—removal, bounce, and edicts reset your whole plan
- Needs evasion to actually connect; a single big blocker stonewalls her
- The 'reset to one counter' clause caps raw size unless you add counters fast
- Mono-green struggles with interaction, card advantage, and stack-based answers
Key Cards
- Doubling Season — Multiplies her entering counters and every doubling trigger, blowing past the 16-power threshold instantly.
- Hardened Scales — Cheap, repeatable counter amplification that accelerates her growth and feeds outside payoffs.
- Rancor — Recurring trample plus a buff turns her counter pile into guaranteed lethal commander damage.
- Shizo, Death's Storehouse — Free, repeatable fear-style evasion to push connected damage through clogged boards.
- Heroic Intervention — Protects your overgrown threat from the wraths and targeted removal that punish Voltron.
- Greater Good — Converts her toughness into card advantage and gives a sacrifice outlet to dodge exile or theft.
Upgrade Path
Add counter multipliers (Doubling Season, Branching Evolution, Hardened Scales) so she clears 16 power and gets to dump counters via proliferate or fight payoffs. Prioritize cheap protection (Heroic Intervention, Tyvar's Stand, Snakeskin Veil) and reliable evasion (Rogue's Passage, Loxodon Warhammer for trample) over going wider. Round out with fast ramp—Sol Ring, Carpet of Flowers, Three Visits—to land her ahead of curve and threaten lethal before the table stabilizes.

Win Conditions
- ▸21 commander damage, often in one or two swings with trample and double strike
- ▸Overrun-style anthem effects ending the game across the board
- ▸Converting her massive size into draw with Greater Good, then closing with a finisher
Archetypes
- Voltron — She grows herself for free and wants auras, equipment, and evasion to deal commander damage.
- +1/+1 Counters — Her doubling trigger synergizes with counter doublers, proliferate, and counter-matters payoffs.
- Stompy/Big Green — Mono-green ramp and trample enablers turn her into an overwhelming midrange threat.
