Guide
Gameplan
Olivia Voldaren grows herself by pinging creatures, turning them into Vampires, then steals those Vampires (or any opposing Vampire) with her black ability to build a board out of your opponents' best creatures. You control the table through removal-on-a-stick early, snowball into a flying threat, and grind out card and board advantage while leaning on a Vampire tribal shell.
Strengths
- Repeatable removal and creature theft from the command zone, scaling with mana
- Ping ability synergizes with infect/wither, deathtouch, and damage-payoff enablers
- Stealing opposing Vampires lets you flip the strongest creatures to your side permanently
- Self-growing flying threat that also functions as Voltron commander damage
Weaknesses
- Mana-hungry: every activation costs mana, so she's slow without ramp
- Vulnerable to removal and the theft effect ends if she leaves the battlefield
- Spot pings only deal 1 damage, so killing big creatures takes many activations or help
- Two-color identity lacks blue counterspells/card draw and green ramp
Key Cards
- Basilisk Collar — Grants deathtouch so any 1-damage ping kills any creature, and lifelink to keep you safe.
- Gratuitous Violence — Doubles Olivia's ping to 2 damage and amplifies your whole board's combat output.
- Quietus Spike — Turns Olivia into a combat finisher, halving opponents' life on damage while she grows.
- Kalitas, Traitor of Ghen — Top-tier Vampire payoff that exiles dying creatures and makes tokens, great steal target too.
- Blade of the Bloodchief — Snowballs Olivia's counters as creatures die from her pings and theft.
- Cabal Coffers — Black ramp to fuel her expensive theft and repeated ping activations.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and rituals (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Ruby/Bojuka rocks, Cabal Coffers/Nirkana Revenant) so you can ping and steal in the same turn. Prioritize deathtouch enablers (Basilisk Collar, Gorgon Flail) and damage doublers to make her removal lethal, plus protection like Swiftfoot Boots and Heroic Intervention so theft doesn't unravel. To push higher, lean into a tighter Vampire/aristocrats package with strong tutors (Vampiric Tutor, Diabolic Intent) and a compact combo finish.
