Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa
The Commander
Flanking (Whenever a creature without flanking blocks this creature, the blocking creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn.)
Creatures your opponents control without flying or reach can't block creatures with power 2 or less.
Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)
Guide
Gameplan
Sidar Kondo turns an army of small (power 2 or less) creatures into near-unblockable attackers, since opponents can only stop them with flyers or reach. Flood the board with cheap tokens and evasive aggressors, then alpha strike for lethal commander/combat damage while picking a Partner to push the deck toward tokens, +1/+1 counters, or extra value.
Strengths
- Makes go-wide token and small-creature swarms nearly impossible to block
- Partner lets you tailor a second commander to your strategy and color needs
- Flanking makes Sidar a strong attacker and deterrent in his own right
- GW gives access to elite token, anthem, and ramp support
Weaknesses
- Anthem effects can accidentally push creatures above power 2, removing their unblockable benefit
- Flyers and reach on opponents' boards blank the evasion clause
- Relies on a wide board, so sweepers are devastating
- No built-in card advantage from Sidar himself
Key Cards
- Tana, the Bloodsower — The classic partner—her saproling generation feeds the wide, low-power army Sidar wants to swing in.
- Reyhan, Last of the Abzan — A counter-focused partner that adds black and recursion, though watch that counters don't raise power past 2.
- Skullclamp — Turns your expendable 1-toughness tokens into a relentless card-draw engine.
- Intangible Virtue — Anthem for token power—use carefully to stay at or below power 2 on key attackers.
- Cathars' Crusade — Snowballs your board but can lift creatures above the 2-power threshold, so balance it with sheer numbers.
- Tendershoot Dryad — Floods the board with saprolings every upkeep, ideal fuel for Sidar's evasive swarm.
Upgrade Path
Add efficient token producers and free anthems that keep creatures at power 2 (Bennie Bracks, Adeline) while including overrun effects like Craterhoof Behemoth or Triumph of the Hordes for finishers. Tighten the mana with fast rocks and dorks (Sol Ring, Birds of Paradise) and pick a powerful partner—Tana for raw width or Reyhan for resilience. Include protection like Heroic Intervention and Teferi's Protection to survive the board wipes that prey on go-wide decks.
