Spider-Man, Miles Morales
The Commander
Guide
Gameplan
Spider-Man, Miles Morales is a mono-green go-wide counters payoff: flood the board with creatures, then have Miles enter or attack to pump your entire team with +1/+1 counters and trample, swinging for lethal commander damage spread across many bodies. You ramp early, deploy a wide board, and use repeated attack triggers to snowball counters until your team punches through any blockers.
Strengths
- Anthem-on-a-stick that scales every combat, getting better the wider you go
- Trample on the whole team means chump blockers barely matter
- Vigilance lets Miles attack and still defend, and he triggers on both ETB and attack
- Mono-green gives access to the format's best ramp, recursion, and counter synergies
- Counters are permanent, so even one or two attacks leave a lasting board advantage
Weaknesses
- Six mana for a payoff that needs an existing board to matter—stalls if cast into nothing
- Heavily reliant on the commander; loses tempo if he's repeatedly removed or you're hit with a board wipe
- Mono-green struggles with interaction, lacking counterspells and efficient removal
- Vulnerable to fog effects, mass blink, and flyers since the team is grounded
- Slow against dedicated combo decks that ignore the board
Key Cards
- Hardened Scales — Multiplies every counter Miles distributes across your whole board for explosive growth.
- Branching Evolution — Doubles the +1/+1 counters from each enter/attack trigger, turning the team enormous fast.
- Cathars' Crusade — Stacks with Miles so every creature you cast also pumps the team, compounding the go-wide plan.
- Craterhoof Behemoth — Classic mono-green finisher that converts a wide, trampling board into immediate lethal damage.
- Tireless Provisioner — Generates ramp and treasure off your token-heavy board to power out big plays.
- Skullclamp — Turns your small tokens into a card-draw engine, refueling the go-wide strategy.
Upgrade Path
Lean into counter doublers (Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution, Doubling Season) and proliferate effects to make each trigger exponential. Add fast mana like Sol Ring, Nature's Lotus, and dorks to deploy Miles ahead of curve, plus protection like Heroic Intervention and Tyvar's Stand to defend the board. Top it off with redundant finishers (Craterhoof, Pathbreaker Ibex, Overwhelming Stampede) so any wide turn becomes lethal.
