During your turn, other historic creatures you control have double strike.
Disguise (You may cast this card face down for as a 2/2 creature with ward . Turn it face up any time for its disguise cost.)
Bayek is an aggressive Boros midrange/Voltron-aggro commander that turns your board of historic creatures (legendaries, artifact creatures, and Sagas) into double-striking threats during your turn. You curve out efficient historic bodies, pump them with equipment or anthems, and swing for lethal commander/board damage in a couple of attacks. Bayek's own Disguise lets him sneak in cheaply and flip to dodge removal.
Doubles combat damage across a whole subtype of creatures, enabling explosive turns
Synergizes naturally with equipment, big-power buffs, and trample for one-shot kills
Disguise gives flexibility and protection (ward 2) against targeted removal
Boros has excellent equipment, anthems, and extra-combat support
Effect only works on your turn, so it does nothing defensively or on opponents' turns
Double strike is wasted without power boosts or evasion—needs build-around payoffs
RW lacks card draw and ramp, leading to mana/resource flood or screw
Board wipes hit your go-wide historic plan hard
Most synergy requires creatures to specifically be 'historic' (legendary/artifact/Saga)
A historic body that floods the board with tokens to grow her own attack into double-strike lethal.
Add fast mana and rocks (Sol Ring, Boros Signet, Smothering Tithe) to outpace RW's slow ramp, and lean into evasion/trample enablers so double strike always connects. Include extra-combat effects like Aggravated Assault and Combat Celebration plus protection (Boots, Greaves, Heroic Intervention) to make alpha strikes lethal and resilient. Prioritize a high density of cheap, high-impact legendary and artifact creatures so Bayek's anthem is always live.
