Leinore, Autumn Sovereign
The Commander
Coven — At the beginning of combat on your turn, put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature you control. Then if you control three or more creatures with different powers, draw a card.
Guide
Gameplan
Leinore is a Selesnya counters/go-wide commander who turns a diverse board into card advantage. Each combat she grows a creature and, as long as you control three creatures with different powers, draws you a card — so you flood the board with varied tokens and counter-creatures, then swing wide or tall.
Strengths
- Repeatable card draw in GW, a color pair that traditionally struggles for it
- Synergizes naturally with token strategies that produce creatures of varying sizes
- Cheap four-mana commander that immediately impacts the board
- Counter-doubling and proliferate effects accelerate her growth engine
Weaknesses
- Card draw is conditional — needs three creatures with different powers, which board wipes shut off
- Slow without a developed board; offers little when behind
- Lacks built-in evasion or protection, so she dies to spot removal easily
- No interaction or reach — vulnerable to faster combo decks
Key Cards
- Doubling Season — Doubles every +1/+1 counter and token, supercharging both Leinore's growth and your power-diversity.
- Hardened Scales — Cheaply amplifies the counters Leinore places and helps create varied powers.
- Esper Sentinel — Extra card advantage and a creature that supports the coven-style power diversity.
- Cathars' Crusade — Each token entering pumps everything, generating varied powers and a snowballing board.
- Branching Evolution — More counters per trigger means faster, bigger threats and reliable power differences.
- Heroic Intervention — Protects your wide board from the wraths that turn off Leinore's engine.
Upgrade Path
Lean into either tokens or counters and add payoffs like Craterhoof Behemoth, Overwhelming Stampede, or Triumph of the Hordes to close games. Add proliferate and counter-doublers (Branching Evolution, Innkeeper's Talent) plus protection (Heroic Intervention, Teferi's Protection) so wraths don't shut off your engine. Improve mana with Selesnya staples like Smothering Tithe, fast rocks, and efficient ramp to deploy your wide board faster.

- +1/+1 Counters — Leinore distributes counters every combat, rewarding counter-matters payoffs.
- Go-Wide Aggro — A diverse board both fuels card draw and presents lethal Overrun-style swings.
- Value Midrange — Steady card advantage and incremental growth grind opponents out over time.
