Trelasarra, Moon Dancer
The Commander
Whenever you gain life, put a +1/+1 counter on Trelasarra and scry 1. (Look at the top card of your library. You may put that card on the bottom.)
Guide
Gameplan
Trelasarra turns every lifegain trigger into a +1/+1 counter plus a scry, so you build a critical mass of cheap, repeatable lifegain effects and beat down with a snowballing commander. Early turns ramp and deploy lifelinkers or incidental lifegain enablers; mid-game your scry trigger smooths draws while Trelasarra grows into a one- or two-shot kill. Suit her up with protection and trample to close fast.
Strengths
- Extremely cheap commander (2 mana) that grows for free off effects you'd already run
- Built-in card selection via repeated scry keeps draws consistent
- GW has deep, efficient lifegain and counter-synergy support
- Can win through combat as Voltron or pivot to go-wide lifegain payoffs
Weaknesses
- Heavily commander-dependent; removal on Trelasarra stalls the whole plan
- Lifegain alone doesn't close games—needs evasion or a payoff to convert
- Vulnerable to board wipes and counter-removal effects
- GW lacks strong interaction, card draw, and combo resilience compared to other color pairs
Key Cards
- Soul Warden — Triggers Trelasarra off every creature entering, growing her constantly in creature-heavy pods.
- Soul's Attendant — A second Soul Warden effect that stacks lifegain triggers for rapid counter and scry value.
- Heliod, Sun-Crowned — Doubles lifegain into extra counters and pairs with lifelink to form a combo engine.
- Walking Ballista — With Heliod, Sun-Crowned it forms an infinite lifegain/counter combo that also pings the table.
- Archangel of Thune — Each lifegain pumps the whole board and supercharges Trelasarra's growth simultaneously.
- Trynn, Champion of Freedom — Token engine that floods the board to feed lifegain and provide a wide attack.
- Cathars' Crusade — Turns every creature you cast into more counters, multiplying your already-growing board.
- Felidar Sovereign — A natural lifegain-payoff win condition once your incidental gain stacks up.
Upgrade Path
Add infinite combos like Heliod, Sun-Crowned with Walking Ballista or Spike Feeder for deterministic wins, and tighten your lifegain density so triggers fire every turn. Improve protection with Swiftfoot Boots, Heroic Intervention, and Flawless Maneuver to keep Trelasarra alive through removal, and add ramp like Sol Ring and Smothering Tithe plus proliferate effects to accelerate the counter snowball. Cut narrow incidental-gain cards for ones that trigger repeatedly each turn.
