Why is this card good?

Talismans are premium two-mana ramp in their respective color pairs, and Conviction is the Boros (RW) member of the cycle. The big sell over a Signet is that it can tap on turn two for colorless without needing a land to bounce off of, accelerating you a full turn ahead and helping you cast a four-drop on turn three. This belongs in basically any two-color RW deck and any 3-5 color deck that includes both red and white. It's especially valuable in Boros, which historically lacks good ramp and card advantage — efficient mana rocks help you keep pace with green and blue decks. Aggro, spellslinger, and equipment/voltron commanders all appreciate the speed. The downside is real but minor: tapping for colored mana pings you for 1. In a 40-life format that's negligible, but it matters in aggressive mirrors or against burn. Skip it only in mono-colored decks or budget/casual builds where colored fixing isn't a priority — otherwise it's an auto-include.
