Old Stickfingers
The Commander
When you cast this spell, reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal X creature cards. Put all creature cards revealed this way into your graveyard, then put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Old Stickfingers's power and toughness are each equal to the number of creature cards in your graveyard.
Guide
Gameplan
Cast Old Stickfingers for a large X to dump a pile of creatures into your graveyard, then reanimate the best ones and grind value while Stickfingers itself becomes a huge, cheap beater. You self-mill, recur threats, and convert that graveyard mass into either combat damage or an aristocrats/combo finish.
Strengths
- Acts as both a mass self-mill engine and a free, scalable body for reanimator decks
- Cheap commander cost means you can recast it and re-mill if it dies
- Golgari has the best graveyard recursion and sacrifice tools in the format
- Can pivot between voltron beatdown, aristocrats, and reanimator combo
Weaknesses
- Casting for high X exiles your library randomly to the bottom, risking lost key spells
- Heavily graveyard-dependent and folds to Rest in Peace, Bojuka Bog, and other hate
- No evasion or protection on its own as a voltron threat
- Two colors limits access to fast tutors and interaction compared to higher-color decks
Key Cards
- Reanimate — Cheaply pulls the fattest creature you just milled straight onto the battlefield.
- Animate Dead — Repeatable-style cheap reanimation to convert milled bombs into board presence.
- Victimize — Sacrifices one creature to return two from the yard Stickfingers just filled.
- Meren of Clan Nel Toth — Builds experience counters to recur creatures every turn, perfect with self-mill.
- Buried Alive — Tutors specific combo or value creatures into the yard to pair with reanimation.
- Gravecrawler — A free, recurring sacrifice fodder that loves the full graveyard and aristocrats lines.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana (Dark Ritual, Cabal Coffers, Nyxbloom Ancestor) so you can cast Stickfingers for a massive X early, and tighten the curve with cheap reanimation (Reanimate, Animate Dead, Necromancy). Include a dedicated combo line such as Mikaeus, the Unhallowed plus Walking Ballista or Triskelion, and run graveyard insurance and recursion (Eternal Witness, Noxious Revival) plus protection like Heroic Intervention to fight back against graveyard hate.

Win Conditions
- ▸Reanimated fatties or a huge Old Stickfingers swinging for lethal/commander damage
- ▸Aristocrats drain via Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and sacrifice loops
- ▸Combo kills like Mikaeus, the Unhallowed plus a persist creature and a sac outlet
- ▸Grinding out the table with recursive value engines like Meren and Mortician's Disciple
Archetypes
- Reanimator — Stickfingers fills the yard with creatures en masse so you cheat them out with reanimation spells.
- Aristocrats — The mass of creatures fuels sacrifice loops and drain effects like Blood Artist.
- Voltron — With a stacked yard, Stickfingers becomes a one- or two-shot commander-damage threat.
- Combo — Self-mill plus reanimation assembles creature combos like Mikaeus and Triskelion.
