Omnath, Locus of the Roil
The Commander
When Omnath enters, it deals damage to any target equal to the number of Elementals you control.
Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, put a +1/+1 counter on target Elemental you control. If you control eight or more lands, draw a card.
Guide
Gameplan
Omnath is a Temur Elemental tribal/landfall deck that floods the board with Elemental tokens and ramps hard with extra land drops. Each landfall pumps your Elementals and, once you hit eight lands, refills your hand, snowballing card advantage into a wide, evasive, or burn-based finish. You play out cheap Elementals, ramp aggressively, then grind value until you can swing for lethal or burn the table out.
Strengths
- Doubles as a card-advantage engine and a tribal payoff in one body
- Cheap recast cost (4 mana) makes it resilient to removal
- Landfall plus extra land drops generates relentless incremental value
- Strong synergy with Elemental ETB/token producers for both bodies and burn
Weaknesses
- Wants two distinct synergies (lands and Elementals) which can dilute the deck
- Board wipes hit the wide Elemental strategy hard
- Reliant on hitting land drops to stay ahead—mana screw is punishing
- No built-in evasion or protection; can stall against go-wide blockers
Key Cards
- Risen Reef — The premier Elemental engine—ramps and draws every time an Elemental enters, fueling both halves of the deck.
- Cultivate — Cheap ramp that puts a land into play to trigger landfall and accelerates toward the eight-land draw threshold.
- Avenger of Zendikar — Makes an army of Plant tokens whose landfall growth pairs perfectly with Omnath's counter and draw engine.
- Scute Swarm — Each land drop copies it exponentially, turning landfall into a runaway token and counter machine.
- Omnath, Locus of Mana — Stacks Elemental count and provides huge mana storage for explosive turns (note: only legal as a separate card, strong inclusion).
- Tireless Tracker — Converts landfall into Clue tokens and grows itself, providing draw and a relevant body.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Three Visits, Nature's Lore, Cultivate) plus extra-land-drop enablers (Exploration, Azusa, Burgeoning) to maximize landfall triggers. Tighten the curve toward the most explosive Elementals (Risen Reef, Scute Swarm, Avenger) and add flicker like Restoration Angel or Eternal Witness loops to abuse Omnath's ETB burn. Finish with payoffs such as Craterhoof Behemoth or Finale of Devastation and protect your engine with counterspells and Heroic Intervention.

- Landfall — Extra land drops and ramp continuously trigger pump and card draw, making lands-matter payoffs central.
- Ramp/Midrange — Aggressive mana acceleration into big Elementals and value engines lets the deck out-grind opponents.
- Tokens — Plant and Elemental token makers go wide and benefit from blanket landfall counters.
