Abomination of Llanowar
The Commander
Vigilance; menace (This creature can't be blocked except by two or more creatures.)
Abomination of Llanowar's power and toughness are each equal to the number of Elves you control plus the number of Elf cards in your graveyard.
Guide
Gameplan
Flood the board with Elves to grow Abomination of Llanowar into a massive, hard-to-block threat while generating explosive mana from your Elf army. You ramp aggressively with Elvish mana dwarves, build a wide tribal board, and then close with either commander damage or a payoff that punishes your huge creature count. Your graveyard counts too, so even after a wipe you stay threatening.
Strengths
- Commander scales with both battlefield and graveyard, so it's resilient to board wipes
- Elf tribal in BG gives access to absurd mana ramp from Elvish Archdruid, Priest of Titania, and Wirewood Channeler
- Vigilance plus menace makes the commander both an attacker and a defender that's tough to chump-block
- Black adds recursion and tutors that mono-green elf decks lack
Weaknesses
- Heavy reliance on Elf creatures makes it vulnerable to repeated board wipes despite graveyard padding
- Commander is removal-bait; spot removal forces a recast tax
- Can stall without a real payoff once the board is wide
- Low to-the-table interaction if built purely as goodstuff tribal
Key Cards
- Elvish Archdruid — Anthems your Elves and taps for mana equal to your Elf count, fueling explosive turns.
- Priest of Titania — Premier Elf mana dork that scales with the whole table's Elves for huge ramp.
- Craterhoof Behemoth — Turns your wide Elf board into a lethal alpha strike in one swing.
- Wirewood Symbiote — Untaps a mana Elf and bounces an Elf for repeatable value and combo enabling.
- Ezuri, Renegade Leader — Overrun engine and regeneration that protects the team and grows your attackers.
- Beast Whisperer — Draws a card off every creature cast, refilling your hand on Elf-heavy turns.
Upgrade Path
Add fast mana and combo finishers: Priest of Titania or Elvish Archdruid plus Umbral Mantle or Sword of the Paruns and a mana sink like Walking Ballista or Staff of Domination for instant kills. Tighten the curve with Green Sun's Zenith, Sylvan Library, and efficient tutors (Worldly Tutor, Demonic Tutor), and lean into the black recursion with Eternal Witness and Patriarch's Bidding to rebuild after wipes. Swap weaker tribal filler for protection like Heroic Intervention and Vines of Vastwood to keep your engine online.
